Glover's Reef Atoll Diving Tour

Belize is dive heaven!

While Belize can proudly boast having the title of the longest stretch of coral in the western hemisphere, she can also boast being home to the largest living and thriving coral reef in the entire world. Glover’s Reef is the southernmost atoll in Belize and is a protected Marine Reserve and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Scuba dive the perimeter of the reef in search of marine life that may include these species: turtles; manta rays; sharks (reef; hammerheads; whale), spotted stingrays; barracuda; queen, blue, and French angelfish; trunkfish; hogfish; butterfly fish; blue tangs; groupers; sergeant majors, blue-headed wrasses, and too many others to name here.

This atoll is surrounded by deep drop-offs from the reef’s edge, including the Long Caye Wall drop-off, which starts at 25 feet and then descends into an abyss over 3,000 feet deep with visibility at about 100 feet. The Wall is teeming with coral and is a prime feeding site for marine creatures.

Blue Hole Diving Tour

Rated by famed marine biologist Jacques Cousteau as one of the best diving spots on the planet.

A feature attraction of diving in Belize, especially for divers with an appreciation of geographical phenomena, is the opportunity to explore the famed Blue Hole. It is one of the most astounding dive sites to be found anywhere on earth. Located right in the center of Lighthouse Reef, it’s a large, almost perfectly circular hole approximately one-quarter of a mile (.4 km) across. Inside this hole, the water is 425 feet (129 m) deep and it is the depth of water which gives the deep blue color that causes such structures throughout the world to be known as “blue holes.” Except for two narrow channels, the reef surrounds the hole. The hole itself is the opening to a system of caves and passageways that penetrate this undersea mountain. In various places, massive limestone stalactites hang down from what was once the ceiling of air-filled caves before the end of the last Ice Age. When the ice melted, the sea level rose, flooding the caves.

Since the Blue Hole dive requires a minimum depth of 130ft, only certified advanced and experienced divers should attempt this dive. Due to the depth of this dive, bottom time is limited to about 8 minutes, and good buoyancy skills are required to do the mandatory safety stop.

For those interested in snorkeling, the Belize Blue Hole Tour can also be offered as a Snorkeling Tour.

Tour details such as timetables, location, etc., will be confirmed upon arrival with the Front Desk.

Level: Advanced
If you are a certified advanced diver but do not have any dives logged recently, you might be prompted to do a refresher dive where the divemaster will monitor your abilities and how your body reacts while diving in deeper water. He/she will then determine if you are able to participate in this dive.

What to bring: Dive certification card, sunscreen, hat, swim/dive wear, underwater camera, Dramamine, and power/granola bars

Pricing: See à la carte tour page.

NOTE: This is an à la carte tour and is NOT included in our All Inclusive Package.
